Our Story
Devora & Nick

"It was the last hour of a fabulous weekend. We met, had a chat, exchanged contact details and met the following weekend."

Devora and Nick met at The Big Weekend 2012, which took place at Crewe Hall Hotel, in Cheshire.

They married on 17 August 2014.

Our History

Young Jewish Singles began in 2012, the brainchild of Charles Simmons from Leeds, UK. He was inspired to organise a Singles Weekend during a meeting with the former Chief Rabbi, Rabbi Dr Jonathan Sacks.

Charles put together a committee of like-minded singles hailing from across the UK. The weekend would be under the guidance and auspices of Rabbi Jason Kleiman, Rabbi of BHH Synagogue in Leeds and Rabbi Eli Pink, Director of Education for Chabad Lubavitch Leeds, the founders of JMT Events, an organisation catering to young professionals.

The first Big Weekend took place in October 2012 at Crewe Hall Hotel in Cheshire and was a smashing success.

Charles and his committee put together The Bigger Weekend, which took place in October 2013 at Chesford Grange Hotel in Warwickshire.

Many of the original committee - and a number of Big Weekend attendees - are now happily married.
